The Most Precious Thing | 가장 귀한 것

[눅18:25] 낙타가 바늘귀로 들어가는 것이 부자가 하나님의 나라에 들어가는 것보다 쉬우니라 하시니
In fact, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich person to enter the Kingdom of God. [Luke 18:25]

먼저 짧은 영상 하나를 보겠습니다.
Let’s watch a short animation first.
이 사람은 원래 아주 멋진 사람이었어요.
하나님 말씀도 열심히 공부하고, 돈도 많았다고 합니다.
게다가 높은 곳에서 사람들을 다스리는 Ruler 였어요.
This man was a very nice person. It is said that he studied the Word of God diligently and had a lot of money. Besides, he was a Ruler who ruled people from high places.
그런 높은 사람이 허름한 모습의 예수님을 보고는 무릎을 꿇고 궁금한 것을 예수님께 물어보는 것을 보면 아주 겸손하기까지 합니다.
When such a high man sees Jesus in his shabby appearance, he gets down on his knees and asks questions to Jesus. It shows he was a very humble man as well.
예수님에게 뭘 물어봤지요?
그는 예수님에게 자신이 그렇게 착하게 살고, 열심히 성경도 보고 있는데 하나님 나라 - 천국에 들어갈 수 있을지 예수님께 확인하고 싶었습니다.
What did he ask Jesus? He told Jesus that he was living such a good life, and he was diligently reading the Bible, but he wanted to make sure with Jesus if he could enter the kingdom of God-Heaven.
누가봐도 완벽한 삶을 살아가는 그 사람이 하나님 나라에 들어갈 수 없다면, 누가 과연 들어갈 수 있겠는가? 사람들은 그렇게 생각하고 있었지요.
If anyone who lives a perfect life cannot enter the kingdom of God, who can? People were thinking that way.
여러분은 어떻게 생각해요? 그런 사람이 천국에 갈 수 있겠죠?
What do you think? Shouldn’t such a person go to heaven?
그런데, 예수님이 그에게 말했어요.
너한테 한가지가 부족하다. 네가 가진 모든 것을 다 가난한 사람들에게 나눠주고 너는 나를 따르거라!
But, Jesus said to him. You lack one thing. Give all you have to the poor and follow me!
그가 어떻게 했을까요? 높은 지위, 엄청난 재산, 다 나눠주고 예수님을 따를 수 있었을까요?
What would he do? Would he have been able to give away his high position, great fortune, and follow Jesus?
성경은 그가 다른 건 다 포기할 수 있었는데,
보물이 너무 많아서 그렇게 하지 못했대요.
슬퍼하며 그는 예수님을 떠나고 말았습니다.
The Bible says he could have given up everything else, but he couldn't give up money because he had too much money. Sadly, he left Jesus.
그래서 예수님이 말씀하셨어요.
그와 같은 부자들이 천국에 들어가는 것은, 낙타가 바늘 구멍에 들어가는 것 보다 더 어렵다.
So Jesus said. It is more difficult for such a rich person to enter heaven than for a camel to go through the eye of a needle.
그것을 다 보고있던 베드로가 예수님께 당당하게 말하죠.
저는 다 버리고 예수님을 따랐습니다!
Peter, who had seen it all, confidently said to Jesus.
I left everything and followed Jesus!
베드로는 부자가 아니었잖아요. 그는 가진 것이 많지 않았잖아요.
그래도 어쨋든 그는 자신이 가진 모든 것 보다 예수님이 더 중요해요!
Peter wasn't rich. He didn't have much. So it was easier for him to give them up.
Still, he cares more about Jesus than everything he has!
돈이 많이 있는 것이 잘못은 아니지만, 어느새 가진 것이 너무 많아서 예수님 보다 그게 더 중요한 것으로 느껴지기 시작하면, 어떻게 되겠습니까? 이 부자 청년처럼 되겠지요?
It's not wrong to have a lot of money, but what if you have so much that you start to feel that it's more important than Jesus? Will you be like this rich young man?
모든 것을 다 가졌지만, 그는 마음이 항상 불안했어요. 천국에 갈 수 없을 것 같았어요.
그리고 왜 그가 그렇게 평안이 없었는지 오늘 깨닫게 되었죠.
Although he had everything, he was always anxious.
He didn't think he could go to heaven. And today I realized why he was so restless.
하나님 보다, 돈을 더 중요하게 생각하고 있었기 때문이었어요.
It was because I thought money was more important than God.
여러분에게도 예수님 보다 더 중요한 것이 있나요?

Prayer
하나님 아버지,
우리는 말로는 예수님이 가장 귀하다고 하면서도, 사실은 다른 물건이나, 사람이나, 돈을 더 소중하게 생각하기도 합니다. 돈이나 사람을 더 의지해서 그게 가까이 있으면 편안하고, 없어지면 불안해 합니다. 하나님이 아니라 그런 것들을 의지한 것입니다. 우리가 영원하시고 변하지 않고 항상 우리 곁에 함께 계시는 하나님을 의지하고, 하나님 때문에 평안을 얻는 믿음이 있게 해주세요.
사랑하고, 감사하며,

Heavenly Father,
We say that Jesus is the most precious, but in reality we value other things, people, or money more. We depend more on money or people, so we feel comfortable when they are nearby and anxious when they are gone. We often depended on those things, not God. Help us trust in God who is eternal and unchanging and always with us, so when we have truthful faith that will bring us True Eternal Peace.
