제가 목사 안수를 받은 날은 2020년 3월 15일로 그 날은 또한 COVID-19 창궐로 인해서 당일 저녁부로 연방정부에서 모든 모임을 금지한 날이기도 합니다.

May the peace of the Lord be with you.

The day I was ordained as a minister was March 15, 2020, which also happened to be the day the federal government banned all gatherings as of that evening due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

그렇게 목사로서의 저의 사역은 비대면 Virtual 로 시작하게 되었습니다. 누구도 겪어 본 적이 없었던 시대에 교회를 맡게 되어 아무런 매뉴얼이 없던 상황에서 더욱 처절하게 주님을 찾을 수 밖에 없었습니다.

That's how my ministry as a pastor began, virtually. I was taking over a church in a time that no one had ever been through before, and with no manual, I was forced to seek the Lord even more desperately.

그때 주님이 주신 마음이 있었습니다. 알곡보다 가라지가 더 많은 곳이 알곡 밭이라 할 수 없는 것처럼, 이 시대의 교회는 처절한 Reset 이 필요하다는 것이었습니다. 사람을 위한 서비스들을 계속해서 늘려가다 이제 교회마다 주객이 전도되어버린 상태, 본질을 잃어버린 이 시대 교회의 갱신을 원하신다고 확신했습니다.

Then I had a heart from the Lord. Just as a field cannot be called a grain field if it has more tares than grain, I knew that the church in this day and age was in desperate need of a reset. I was convinced that God wanted to renew the church in this day and age, which has been growing in services for people, but has lost its essence.

교회의 본질은 예수님을 예배하는 것입니다. 예수님이 기뻐하시는 모습으로 행하고, 살아가는 작은 그리스도들이 이루는 하나의 공동체여야 합니다. 예수님이 기뻐하시는 모습으로 살아가기 위해서는 반드시 잘못은 지적도 받고, 난관을 만날 때 격려를 받고, 용기를 주는 사랑의 공동체가 필수적입니다.

The essence of the church is the worship of Jesus. It is a community of little Christs who act and live in a way that pleases Jesus. In order to live in a way that pleases Jesus, it is essential to have a loving community where we are corrected when we are wrong, encouraged when we encounter challenges, and given courage.

영적 성장을 이루기 위해 자신의 영적 상태를 돌아볼 기회가 참된 사랑의 관계속에서 이루어져야 합니다. 그것을 위해서는 담임목사가 먼저 투명한 영성의 지도자가 되어야 합니다. 교집합을 이루는 여러 작은 모임들을 통해서 성도들은 위선적인 가면에서 점점 자유로워집니다. 그렇게 교회가 먼저 사랑의 공동체가 될 때에 세상이 우리를 통해 예수님을 보게 됩니다.

In order to grow spiritually, people need to have the opportunity to reflect on their spiritual condition in a relationship of true love. This requires the senior pastor to be a transparent leader of spirituality. Through the many small groups that make up the intersection, members are gradually freed from the mask of hypocrisy. When the church is first a community of love, the world sees Jesus through us.

교회는 눈에 보이지 않은 하나님을 보여주는 그리스도의 형상(몸)입니다. 이시대에 반드시 일어나야 하는 새로움은 교회는 교회다워지고, 성도는 성도다워지고, 목회자도 목회자 다워지는 일입니다.

The church is the image (body) of Christ, showing the invisible God. The renewal that must take place in these times is for the church to become more church-like, the saints to become more saints-like, and the pastors to become more pastors-like.

그렇게 교회가 예수 그리스도를 올바로 예배하고, 나타낸다면 나머지는 그 교회를 기뻐하시는 하나님을 통해 전도도, 제자화도, 일상의 예배자로서의 삶도 모두 형통하게 이루어질 것입니다.

그것이 바로 우리가 꿈꾸는 참된 부흥입니다.

If the church worships and represents Jesus Christ properly, then the rest will flow from the God who delights in that church: evangelism, discipleship, and daily worship.

That's the kind of true revival we dream of.
